Lying Through Their Teeth

It's so interesting to see the Republican spinmeisters -- Karl Rove, all the congressmen, congresswomen, various assorted hangers-on and flunkies -- trying their best to back up John McCain's disastrous choice for VP.

They're very ingeniuous -- even though it's transparent -- at not answering the questions, or at coming up with spurious comparisons, such as the one that says Sarah Palin has great foreign policy experience because Alaska is so close to Russia! Or McCain and Palin have more experience serving in the military than Obama and Biden combined. This is like saying an apple and a rock have more nutritional value than two rocks. The first rock has little to do with it.

The funny thing -- I said it was transparent what they're doing -- is that they appear to have no shame. You know they're lying through their teeth, and, as Don Adams would say, loving it. Or maybe they're not loving it. They have to be cursing McCain under their breath for putting them in this ridiculous situation. Looking like fools, yet having to take one for the party.

I always think it'd be very revealing to live in a parallel universe for a few seconds. Pretend with me that Sarah Palin, with exactly the same experience, but of course different views, happened to be a Democrat, and Obama picked her as his running mate. It's not hard to imagine what the same Republican spinmeisters would be saying then! Oh, there'd be no end to how terrible she was! Of course they'd deny it. That's a given, because they are lying through their teeth.
